Welcome to the Ultimate Fit Challenge!
This is the first entry in what I hope will be a fruitful, educational and rewarding journey towards completing an Olympic distance triathlon and reaching black belt in karate. If you want a more detailed summary of why I’m here and why I’m writing about it, be sure to check out the “About” page where you can get all the details.
For now though, let me give you a quick rundown of what you can expect here. I don’t want to just create an ongoing diary of what I did every day to prepare for a triathlon. You can go to any of a hundred places to find a workout program. I want to give you more than that.
Since I’m working with a personal trainer for the first time, I’ll be learning dozens of new exercises and training methods to get me in shape. I want to share with you not only what I’m doing but what’s working for me, what I enjoy and what I would rather do without.
I’ll be cleaning up my diet as well. Eating more to fuel properly instead of eating for enjoyment I suppose. My trainer is a nutritionist as well and that will help. I don’t think you necessarily need to acquire the services of a nutritionist to make the journey successful but it’ll certainly help.
I’ll be updating this blog I anticipate on a daily basis (or pretty close to it). Somedays I’ll be talking about that day’s workout. Somedays I’ll be discussing food. Somedays I’ll be responding to reader questions. Somedays I’ll just be talking about the hurdles I’m encountering. Every day will be something different. All of it, I’m hoping, will be useful to you whether you’re using this blog as a means to help you reach your own personal goals or just enjoy reading about what I’m doing.
I’m hoping you’ll stick around for the long haul. Tomorrow, we’ll officially kick things off (since it’s New Year’s Day and who really wants to kick off a fitness program after recovering from a long night).
